Golden Chromosome Award

Slovenian Genetic Society is proudly announcing a competition for the Golden Chromosome Award 2009 for young researchers in the field of the genetics, which will be held on a Joint Congress 2009.

Abstracts meeting the following criteria will be considered:

  • abstracts must focus on an interesting research topic (in the field of genetics)
  • the scientific quality of the abstract
  • short oral presentation (10 minutes)
  • the work must be done in Slovenia
  • eligibility: applicants must be young researchers aged 35 or younger (cut-off date = submission deadline) or PhD holders, who received the degree no more than one year before the abstract submission deadline (PhD degree awarded later than May 15th, 2008)

In the case of a larger number of applications, the SGD Committee will select shortlisted candidates for the Golden Chromosome award, who will be notified by June 15th, 2009. Shortlisted researchers will be invited to present their work orally (10 minutes).

Application guidelines:

  1. Young researchers can apply with more abstracts, which must be submitted electronically according to the guidelines for abstract submission presented on the web site.


  2. The deadline for abstract submission for these awards is May 15th, 2009.


  3. Application procedure:
    • If the authors wish to submit the abstract for consideration for the Golden Chromosome Award, you must select the checkbox on the Registration page "I want to apply for the Golden Chromosome Award" and continue with abstract submission. With this you also agree to present your work orally (10 minutes) to the SGD Committee for the Golden Chromosome Award and other participants.
